Pakistan Cricket Update: The ICC World Cup Super League will not feature Pakistan's forthcoming three-match home ODI series against New Zealand, which begins on September 17 in Rawalpindi. Instead, a bilateral series will be played. This is because the Pakistan Cricket Board and the New Zealand Cricket Board decided to modify the status of the series because it does not have a Decision Review System (DRS).
The New Zealand squad landed in Pakistan on Saturday for the forthcoming series, which will consist of three one-day internationals and five live T20 internationals. This will be their first visit since losing 5-0 to Pakistan in an ODI series in 2003.
Due to the non-availability of the Decision Review System (DRS), which is a necessity under the event playing circumstances, the status of next week's ODI series has been altered to a bilateral series from the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League schedule.
New Zealand will play two Tests and three One-Day Internationals in Pakistan in the 2022-23 season, according to the PCB, and both boards have agreed that the 50-over matches will count towards the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 qualifying.
Pakistan has won four games and amassed 40 points in nine Super League appearances. As it stands now, this places the side sixth on the table. New Zealand, on the other side, has played three Super League games and has won all three, amassing a total of 30 points.
In the 2020-23 Super League cycle, thirteen clubs will compete. Seven additional top-ranked teams, including hosts India, would qualify for the 2023 World Cup.
