India Cricket Update: Mohammed Siraj, an Indian pacer, has spoken out against his omission from the T20 World Cup roster, saying that while he does not have control over team selection, it is not the end of the road for him because he has other ambitions.
Mohammed Siraj, who was instrumental in India's 151-run victory over England in the Lord's Test, said he was not disappointed at not being selected for the forthcoming T20 World Cup, which will be held in the UAE and Oman in October and November this year.
-Well, the selection is not in our hands. It was certainly a dream to play in the T20 World Cup. But, again, that is not the end of it all. I have many more goals - the biggest being to play a lead role in helping the team to win matches," Siraj said in a media interaction.
-I will take things as they come because I believe in destiny and be content in whatever opportunities I get even as the pursuit for excellence at the highest level continues," he added.
The 2021 T20 World Cup begins on October 17, and India's first encounter will be against Pakistan, their arch-rivals.
Siraj, who has had a fantastic run since making his Test debut against Australia in Sydney, said the current England trip was a terrific experience for him and that he is glad to help India win matches.
-The England tour was a great experience by any stretch of the imagination. I am glad that I could repose the faith of my captain Virat Bhai, head coach Ravi Shastri, the support staff and the entire team," said the 27-year-old.
In the nine live Test cricket matches that Siraj has played for India, he has taken 30 wickets.
