It was on the same day 50 years ago when the legend Sunil Gavaskar made his debut in Port of Spain while India was touring the West Indies. They won the test series 1-0 which was one of the high points of the Indian cricket team.
To make the legacy, BCCI honored Sunil Gavaskar during lunchtime on the third day of the ongoing final test held between India and England. There was another delight for fans as he made the debut today on Instagram as well.
Back in this debut test, he scored 65 in the first innings while 67 in the second innings as India won the test series against the West Indies team by 7 wickets. In that series, he scored 774 runs in four tests which is the highest by any Indian batsman while joint 12th overall.

Apparently, India won the series against West Indies & England and he suddenly became one of the most loved cricketers of all the youngsters who was growing up. As I grew up, I wanted to be like him as well. Further, nothing has changed now as he is still my hero-.
Gavaskar achieved several milestones during his cricketing journey. He became the first player to score 10000 runs in Test Cricket which he achieved at Ahmedabad at the same Motera stadium where the current match is being held.
