Latest Football Update: Leonardo, the sporting director of Paris Saint-Germain, does not anticipate Kylian Mbappe to leave the club after the season and believes the France striker will sign a new deal.
Mbappe is free to sign a pre-contract deal with another club in January when his contract expires in June 2022. During the transfer window, Real Madrid made a -137 million bid for him.
"I don't think anyone here sees the future without him," Leonardo told Canal Plus.
"I don't see Kylian leaving at the end of this season. Mbappe's relationship with PSG is deep."
Real's rumoured the second proposal "never arrived," and Leonardo claimed the club was "not satisfied" with the Spanish club's behaviour, as per the football transfer news updates.
"We were clear about the offer they made," he added. "It was not enough from our point of view
"The fact that he's staying, that was the only thing that could happen. We never thought about doing all this without Kylian."
Mbappe, a World Cup champion who joined PSG in 2017 for -166 million from Monaco, has won three Ligue 1 titles and three French Cups with the club, as well as helping them reach their first Champions League final.
He has four goals in the first five games of the 2021-22 Ligue 1 season and will lead PSG's Champions League push with Lionel Messi and Neymar, who joined from Barcelona last month.
